1. UNESCO Heritage Site – Mount Bromo
Have you heard of Mount Bromo? Mount Bromo is the main East Java icon. You will first arrive in the vast Sea of Sand. Walking from the parking lot to the top of the mountain will make you feel like you are in a desert. Secondly, you will get to have an amazing view of the mountains as seen from distance. You will have to climb up to get to the summit and it will take a good one hour walk in the sand till you reach the steps, climb up around 500 steps until you reach the summit.
Once you arrive there you can watch the sun rise through the fog, which is a really amazing experience.
Every year, especially during the summer, thousands of foreign tourists visit Mount Bromo, majority of who are from the European Region. They travel here wanting to see for themselves the magnificence of Mount Bromo, which has an altitude of 2,329 meters above the sea level.
The Mount Bromo Volcano is located in Probolinggo area. If you are not physically capable to travel or are tired, you can rent a horse to travel to the foot of the mountain and then head up the stairs to the top.

2. Kawah Ijen
Kawah Ijen has succeeded to become the second icon of East Java. Located in the Banyuwangi area, the crater of the mountain continues to emit sulfur and it offers a amazing view of the turquoise blue sulphur lake. It is a great destination for people who want to experience an easy trek while watching the amazing mountain landscape.
The attractions offered by Ijen are the unique sulfur mining activities. There are dozens of people mining from early in the morning to bring the sulfur boulders down. Furthermore, Kawah Ijen also has a blue fire which is one of the best looking natural phenomena in the world.
In the early hours, the crater area of the mountain spreads blue like fire. To be able to see it, you must start to climb at 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning so that the sun’s rays do not cover this amazing phenomenon!
