Tumpak Sewu is a 120-metre horseshoe waterfall in Lumajang, East Java — often called ‘Indonesia’s Niagara Falls’. It sits roughly halfway between the Bromo highlands and the Ijen crater trail, making it geographically only possible to include on a 5-day itinerary. Visiting properly requires a 45-minute descent into the gorge and time at the base surrounded by multiple simultaneous cascades. Rushing it in transit does it no justice.

Tumpak Sewu (Day 3) involves a 45-minute gorge descent and climb on a maintained path, suitable for most fitness levels. The Ijen hike (Day 4) is the most demanding — a steep 2–3 hour ascent, best for ages 12–65 with moderate fitness. Your guide paces to your group’s ability.
